Strolling past Tailors, you'd be forgiven for mising it. From the outside it could almost pass for one of the Foveaux street clothing stores. Incidentally, we're not 100% sure but we think the name is in deference to the area's prominence in the clothing trade.
Step up a little from the street and you're in the large rectangular bar/restaurant, fitted out with faux-chrome chairs and tables in a slightly formal layout. We think it could benefit from a little breaking up of the open layout - it seems a bit too much like the staff canteen for us, really. A few dividers here and there would probably serve to hem i the atmosphere a little - I don't know about anyone else, but I often like to hide out when I'm having a quiet beer, and there's no chance of that here.
We haven't tried out the cheap pastas yet, but for $5 you can't go that far wrong, surely? There's free pool on, If I remember correctly, Tuesdays, and DJs every other Saturday. It's off the main drag so the crowd is usually folks who've deliberately set out to come here, such as local office workers.
If you work in the area, give it a try. Myself, I prefer the more homely
KB just round the corner on Foveax.
