...walking back to the PubGuide's new secret underground base in the South Western area of Sydney (OK, St Peters). I started the Night at the Buckland, wandered up to the Parkview, then the Sydney Park, then the Town and Country, and finally, with a minor detour, the White Horse. And the verdict? More unlike it's namesake in Surry Hills it could not be.
Scruffy, local filled, focussed heavily on the TAB and pokies, sparsely populated, I wasn't 100% sure what to make of it. It's nearby so I'll be going back again, but I'm not yet sure of what it has going for it apart from for nearby residents as a drop-in.
Having said that, I felt pretty comfortable, so it's not to be written off by any means. I'll be back at some point, I'm certain.
