At the time of our review visit, The West Ryde's bistro was undergoing some renovation, which was a shame, because I could have just done with some food at that point. That said, it's a fairly impressive pub, from the swaky front bar through to the small, vine festooned beer garden.
Up front it almost has the feel of a city-centre yuppie bar, and the clientele today (saturday afternoon) seems to be the 30-40 crowd plus, with the odd younger face scattered around the pool table. Out back is a more restrained, British style room leading onto the bistro.
It's certainly spacious, and it needs to be - there aren't a whole lot of other pubs in the immediate area, but far from restaing on their laurels the owners of the West Ryde are making a real effort to keep the pub looking good for the punters. Not bad at all...
