On returning from a prolonged trip to New Zealand, I was intrigued to find a new bar venue opened just down the road from my day job. This I had to check out.
Republic is a sleek, designed bar venue just near the ASX building on the corner of Pitt and Bridge, with multiple floors and what we've all come to recognise as the staple decor for any modern bar in Sydney - wood floors, lots of chrome and mood lighting, with plenty of natural light through large windows.
We've been told there are regular DJs and 'club' nights, but our interest lies more in the drinks and conversation end of things, unless there's a live band, so we're sticking to the ground floor bar for now. It's become a bit of a haunt for post-workday drinks for the suits in the area, so if you arrive on friday evening be prepared for a crush. Other than that, it's got all the standard CBD-pub features, inluding a fairly decent wine list for the discerning among us. Worth checking out. review by: Jason
