I don't quite know why, but somehow I've always overlooked the Observer. It's hard to say why, really. Perhaps the frontage is too anonymous, blending in
too well with the rest of George Street.
Well, we finally remembered its existence in time to discover that it's actually a pretty worthwhile spot. Early on a Saturday evening we disembarked from the Taronga Zoo ferry and made our weary way to the Rocks. Within minutes we were happily ensconced in the bar, sipping Hoegaarden and listening to the accoustic duo playing covers in the corner.
The pub itself was restored back in 1992. Well, we say restored, but renovated would be a batter word for it. it now has two bars, a bistro/courtyard, a lot more space than the frontage suggests and a pretty laid back atmosphere. We think it's worth a visit and will be adding it to a Rocks pub crawl pretty soon!
