The North Annandale was done up a couple of years ago and has gone from an old, slightly dodgy pub that served great calamari to something a bit brighter with lots of ottomans and high backed chairs.
This one is great during the day as it has floor to ceiling windows that open up and let the fresh air in. The food is not bad at all (the chicken schnitzel with salad and chips is a personal favourite I must say!). They also have a non-smoking area that is out the back and a little courtyard. The pokies are in a separate area so it is easy to pretend they are not there.
If you are a sports fan they have a huge screen that has the latest sporting events streaming constantly. They also have a couple of pool tables for those who actually feel like a bit of activity with their beer.
The high tech toilets are something to be warned about (another bi-product of the renovation). They flush automatics when the ….ummm “pressure” is removed so don’t freak out if you can’t find the button.
While it is generally packed on Fridays with local workers and residents it is not my pick for an evening bevy. It breaks my golden lighting level rule – too bright is VERY BAD! Due to the glass windows this has a fish bowl effect, which again is VERY BAD!
Basically this is a fine spot for the day but would seek out other options if you are planning a serious evening session.
