Someone once claimed this pub did one of the best pints of Guinness in Sydney. Being a Guiness drinker in the UK, I can say that I disagreed, but then Guiness here isn't
quite the same.
Nestled inside the Hilton Hotel complex, at the top of an escalator from Pitt Street in a small, quiet shopping area, this seems an unusual spot for a pub. Despite this, it's pretty welcoming and fairly handy if you've been cruising the shops and need a break. Its mock-tudor look and very British accoutrements made me feel quite at home,as an expat Brit who used to frequent pub that actually look the way this pub tries to look.
We've been here quite a few times. In fact, it's one of the first pubs I visited in Sydney. It's usually not packed, even when they have bands playing (generally of the Irish flavour), and it has a pool table, even if the space around it is a little lacking. I wouldn't say it was one of the best places to visit in Sydney, but it's still worthwhile if you're nearby. Check it out if your wife/girlfriend wants to shop and you can't cope with another shoe shop (!).
