Upstairs in the 'cocktail bar' it's obvious what goes on at the Globe later in the evening. Huge PA speakers ring the room - yes, it's a clubber's bar, but don't be fooled - it's also a damn good place for a quiet couple of drinks or to meet friends. And if you feel like hanging round till it gets noisy, well, more power to your elbow.
It's plush, carpeted and dark, there are plenty of tables and chairs, the bar is pretty well stocked and there's a great view from the encircling windows of nearby Hyde Park and Park Street. Shame about the Starbucks, but you can't have everything.
We're actually impressed by the Globe and unhesitatingly suggest it as a great early-evening meeting place.
