I recently had the opportunity to spend some time in the Blue Mountains, on a climbing trip, and being an enthusiastic pub-goer, we organised accomodation at the Gardners. At $45 per night for a single room per night (incl. light breakfast) we obviously weren't expecting the Ritz, but what we got was a good friendly pubstay experience, with cold Guinness and the best deep-dish pies ever.
The Gardners is an institution in these parts. It's a large, rangy hotel with TAB bar, public bar, restaurant and a more raucous lounge area with always-full pool tables, and a covered beer garden. We got back from a relatively unsuccessful day's climbing to be catered for by very friendly staff.
While the accomodation is definitely basic, the pub's atmosphere is well worth checking out if you're in the area. And have the beef pie. review by: Jason
