In spirit, it's the ground-level twin of Metropolis just up the road.
Overlooking the freeway on the fringes of North Sydney's business
district, the former Blueberries is now Fluid, possibly not the sort of
name I'd have chosen but there you go - there's no accounting for bar
names in this town. It's a spacious bar with split levels - the back
bar I'm told is the better choice later in the evening but we're too
early to find it at its best. A few early birds (including it seems,
the later-shift bar staff) are scattered round the room, playing pool,
watching the big screen or just lounging.
The place looks pretty swish as you whiz past heading for the freeway,
but once you're in you'll notice a lot of the edges are ragged, so to
speak. The decor is acceptable, the tables sometimes a little wobbly,
and it's clear it's meant to be enjoyed late, with the lights down and
a few more units of alcohol inside you, when it's likely you'd miss the
lack of polish. As recommendation goes, I'd probably be inclined to
come here on a crawl or as an overflow if everywhere else is wedged to
the rafters.
