review by: Jason... from the Dolphin's new wireless internet connection. Yes, you heard right, free wireless internet access from THE PUB!
In an inspired move, The Dolphin has joined a small but growing number of Sydney Pubs with 802.11 wireless networking provided for free to patrons. This means, in effect, you can turn up with your laptop, grab a beer, crack open a web browser and surf to your heart's content. I have a feeling I'll be turning up to these pubs quite a lot in the near future! review by: JasonSince relocating to Surry Hills, the pubguide team has been rather spoilt for choice, with pubs such as the Hopetoun, Cricketers, Palace, Clock, Bar Cleveland, Trinity, Forresters and Dolphin all within lazy walking distance. We don't make it to the Dolphin as much as the others, which is perhaps a reflection on the pub, perhaps not.
When we have been there, we've found it to be in one of two states, dead quiet and pretty enjoyable indeed, or wedged with well-to-do folk either on a post-restaurant trip or waiting for a table at the adjoining award-winning restaurant. The bar adjoining Fitzroy street is at its best for me when it's quiet, downstairs in the back of the restaurant, it's a bit more swish, but there's a good pool table with the pub's logo emblazoned across it.
The restaurant is very much rated, but the bar meals we've had aren't as good, and with Forresters' $5 steak deal on most of the week it's often a more attractive choice to head down the hill a litle way, but we still like to pop in when it's quiet. review by: Jason
