WAS(!) a regular(100 visits??). Told a number of people what a great steak/value they do. Have become a victim of own success.
CAN'T cope on busy nights. Waited with a friend 40 minutes for entree, which arrived WITH main courses(contrary to request), and no knives (had to get myself).
Only one of 2 desserts ordered arrived. No apologies, told it was not on our docket (though paid for!). After waiting nearly 2(!) hours to get out of the pub, I had every right to be angry. Staff were rude/arrogant/not interested in complaints. WON'T be going back. Ever. review by: faircommentIt seems to be a habit of ours to turn up at a pub when the place is being renovated. for tonight's visit we rock up to find half the bar is out of bounds because the new floor behind the jump needs time to dry. Luckily the pub's not so busy as to have a problem with this.
We settle down at the brand new curved bar and get stuck in. The walls are painted with patches of sample colour for the forthcoming paint job, and our friendly barmaid filled us in on what colour had been chosen and what was left to do in the renovations.
It's spacious here in the Captain Cook, the main bar area has less room now with the improved bar, but that scarcely matters in a place this size. Way off in the distance I can spy the restaurant area, so snoop off to have a look, and it's quite an amenable looking spot. While I'm there I order a $10 steak and some $7.50 Calamari and Chips, which arrive briskyl and with a smile - great.
As the night wears on, I get more and more enamoured with the 80s music selction, which has sure ben eclectic, and before long we're firing up the Video Jukebox to supplement these fine choices. Towards the end we drop in the fact we're from the pubguide to an exclamation of "oh, you're not here to review the pub are you? In this state?". Well, to be honest, we didn't mind what state it was in. We had an enjoyable efw quiet beers and a pleasant little meal and we were quite happy, thank you very much. review by: Jason
