My wife (occassional pubguide contributor Sophie) grew up in this area, or more specifically in Moss Vale up the way, so we come back to see the in-laws now and again, often in the company of my Brother-in-Law. Usually we're here to get away from it all, but I relented recently and went of to Bowral with a few of the lads and ended up in hitting the Bowral, and let me tell you it was packed.
It seemed like everyone in the area between 18 and 25 was here, and the atmosphere was energetic, loud, and distinctly alcoholic - this isn't where you should be if you want a few quiet ones - stay at home - but if you're up for a blast, give it a go. It's the latest opener around here so a Mecca, especially after the other pubs close, and the dance floor is usually packed. I'm yet to get here in the daytime, but I'm sure it's somewhat different! Security is tight, of course, and it does need to be on occassion, as the exuberance can spill over, and yes, the police did turn up on this particular night, as they usually do at weekends.
I'd love to tell you some of the stories I've heard but I won't, though I will say one fo these days I'm going to get here in the daytime and see what it's like in pub mode rather than nightclub mode
