The Bar Europa website claims that this bar is like "a pice of Europe in Sydney" - I'm not sure about that, having seen a fair bit of Europe while still a UK resident, but it's certainly worth a visit.
As you walk in you get an excellent view down the curving staircase of a tastefully lit bar and restaurant, which didn't so much remind me of Europe as of certain fashionable bars in London's Clerkenwell and Islington areas, where the young earners congregate to talk, drink and be seen. Like most CBD bars in this part of town, the clientele through the week is mainly City workers visiting after work to unwind - it's the sort of bar where you're less likely to see blow-ins than people who know what they're after.
The selection on offer is pretty good, even in the side bar which is a small bar serving two rooms. The James Squire was great, despite Josh's observation that it wasn't so much 'Amber Ale' as 'Red' - we determined the lighting was to blame, but hey, I liked it.
The staff are friendly, and we were offered fresh drinks twice while we were there perusing the menus. It seems like a great relaxing spot for quiet drink or a perfect spot for a meal with a group of friends or colleagues.
