It's Friday. Myself and a colleague have sneaked off work a little
early and headed for North Sydney to check out the sights. Having taken
in
Fluid and
Metropolis,
we're aching for something better, and Albert's amply fits the bill.
Consiting of the main bar and the smaller Corner Bar, Alberts in a
North Sydney Symphony in two movements - smart but not up itself and
fitting in with the North Sydney ethos without missing a beat.
Being Friday, of course, we're lucky to find a seat, but find one we do
and proceed to check out the patrons. The vast majority seem to be the
local office crowd, which is to be expected here. Some are tucking in
to food, others are just happy to chat and drink. It's not as clinical
as the nearby Firehouse, and not as downmarket as Metropolis, so
manages to endear us with its simplicity. The pace is relaxed, the
punters calm and we would have to rate Albert's as one of our
favourites in North Sydney. Good stuff.
