464, otherwise known as 'upstairs at the labour club' is a one of those 'well kept, but not well kept' secrets of the area. In truth it's a members' club, so if you're from a few K's away, you can get in as a guest. If you're more local, stump up for membership or get a mate to sign you in. It's worth it.
A long, red painted room lined with local art (regularly changed) is filled with a ragtag mixture of comfy chairs and sofas, and a small bar in the corner dispenses low-priced drinks to all. As food goes, it's possible on Fridays to order Fish and Chips from the bar - they phone Johnnie's Fish Cafe round the corner and someone drops your food round a few minutes later. It's a great casual evening out in this respect. No-one dresses for the occassion, and no-one minds if you're a bit scruffy.
The crowd is mostly 20-somethings, mostly at the scruffy end of the range, artists and bohemians won't find themselves out of place here.
