The Briton has been subject to a massive revamp over the last few months, and while not 100% finished, the place is looking pretty schmick.
Upstairs (and what stairs!), is a lounge bar with fishtanks built into the bar (oh the poor fish!), and plenty of pool tables as before, but in much slicker, dark wood surroundings. bottom floor, pokies and a waterfall, middle floor, comfortable seating and a friendy, if a bit stiffly new, atmosphere.
Look out for a new comprehensive review soon, but for now, NICE renovations guys.
review by: JasonIt's been surveyed as having the coldest beer in Sydney, and has been acclaimed as the best pool pub in our fair city, so it can't be bad. Downstairs is graced by a large peninsular bar and a comfortable, lived-in feel. Upstairs is a little different. heading up the stairs to Area 51 you're surrounded by images from the 'forbidden planet' scool of cartooning, on your left is the small loungey bar graced with sofasa and plants and up the final few stairs, the pool room.
It's $1 pool day every day at The Briton, and the tables are well maintained. Competitions twice a week, individual and mixed doubles with plenty of prizes making it hot competition. We give the circular table a miss and install ourselves firmly on a table and get settled in.
By the time we leave at closing time (we arrived in early afternoon) we're thoroughly convinced that The Briton is a definite must for pool fiends and non-players alike. review by: pubguide staff
