Glebe

Very relaxed, plenty of pubs including a few of Sydney's favourites.

It's a bit fashionable, but comfortably down to earth - Glebe is filled with cafes, bars and most importantly, pubs. Sydney's best saturday markets (in our opinion) take place on Glebe Point Road every saturdy, and are well worth a look before heading off to one of the nearby watering holes for a few beers. There's plenty of variety here, from the dedicated pool players' Ancient Briton to the wonderfully eccentric Friend In Hand and many more besides.

update 31 Jul 2003 by Jason:
Try getting food in Glebe on a Sunday - it's not easy. most pub kitchens are closed altogether on Sunday, others open at 6pm - best off with a cafe lunch, then hit the pub.
